Onda Origins, a Seattle-based specialty coffee roaster, wanted to understand the public interest in employing blockchain technology in promoting transparency in the specialty coffee supply chain.


​Kai Analytics developed a proof of concept, smartphone app to collect and feed farm level information into Onda Origin’s traceability system. Because of this farm level data, Onda Origin was able to launch their coffee products with Nordstrom with a commitment for 100% traceable coffee. Importantly, Nordstrom/Onda Origin’s product launch ultimately benefited the farmers, earning them a 70% increase in income.
